Event | Natural November 2012
This was not a hair event though there were hair care products and stalls present. It was a healthy lifestyle event with talks for both adults and children. I purchased my tickets online 2 weeks before the event and picked them up at the front desk on the day. It was due to commence at 11am and continue till 7pm.
The Calabash Hub, Almocado, ForeverLiving Aloe Products stall and BeUnique were all there. I walked around the large hall several times before settling on any purchase. There was vegan food also being sold in the dining area which I sampled early in the day. I was really pleased to see the AfroToys stalls with books and toys showcasing black children - especially the cute T-shirt and backpack with a little girl rocking her afro puffs! I was even tempted to learn to play chess: tempted but not quite.
I was also helping out at the Calabash Hub stall in between taking pictures of the event. There was a good crowd of people coming in after 2pm once the rain had settled.
Ketishia (@SugarKinesis on Twitter and blog of the same name) was present as was Leentora of the Black Hair Diary Blog and Dee of Beautifully and Naturally Made (BnM) Blog. Another mini-reunion for us all!

Today, I was fortunate enough to make my way to the Black Market and meet some partners in hair travels as well as make some new friends. See video below on how I found it!

I went down to Birmingham to enjoy the Black Exposure Live Event 2012 on Saturday 4th of August! It was an early start to catch a train down from London to arrive well before 11am! I actually met up with Charlene of the GoodyBoxUK on the train trip into Birmingham.
This was a celebration of Jamaican Culture (Independence Day) and the Olympics.
Surprisingly, this event started off a little flat as the stalls were not set up and there wasn't a set floor plan for the vendors coming in early.

Curlvolution | I am Amazing!
What a day!
So it started at 11am but I was (fashionably) late.
It was held at the beautiful Crowne Plaza Hotel, Royal Victoria, Docklands. I was surprised by how convenient it was to reach!
Once there, I got my name badge and got to filming.
I'd arrived in time for the Question and Answer session with the panelists who were either natural or transitioning bloggers and/ Vloggers! Then a quick break for food and introducing of the vendors present! It was a lovely mix of vendors: Shea Butter Cottage, Adornement365, BeUnique Haircare, Naturally Sexy, Hair Nine H9, Beautella's Boutique, Black & Brown, Meen Clothing and ISIS Magazine.
Once done, we had Spoken Word poetry readings by a very talented young woman, who gave the best food-for-thought lyrics I have heard yet!
Now for the live BIG-CHOP. Not one, but TWO! Two very brave ladies had volunteered to have their transitions ended right in front of a crowd of onlookers. After introductions to the Adornment365 team who were the hair stylist providing the services, we sat with anticipation as the big moment drew closer.
We started counting down, "Ten...CHOP...Nine...CHOP...Eight...." With every number, the excitement was building.

Curls Unleased Launch | Lavish Suite Thursday 7th June 2012
I will keep this one as brief as I can!
We came, we saw, we danced the night away! lol!
Somehow, in the busy working week, I had forgotten all about this event and had to use some connections - read CrystalAfro of United Kinkdom blog - to snag a ticket.
My fellow blogger, Leentora of the Black Hair Diary blog, and I entered the Milk Bar at GRACE (around Piccadilly circus, London) and were hit by the wave of people there. There were SO MANY ladies here! At least 200 ladies strong!
Catching up and posing! | Already laughing in mins! |
After quick blogger catching up, we moved to the main floor where ladies were getting manicures and hair treatments? It was lush! Next we got some drinks...Iced water for the good girl I am... and started snapping pics!

Afro Hair & Beauty Live June 2012
Can I be brief about this?
Well, we'll see!
I went to the Afro Hair & Beauty Live Show on Monday 4th of June 2012.
I had just finished working a night shift just before getting back to London so you know I was tired!
However, I managed to get to the venue via Angel underground station in one peace. Though, why did I feel I had to walk up ALL those stairs on the escalators in those heels?
I waited for my friend and blogger, from the Black Hair Diary Blog (twitter @theBHDblog) outside a short time. We were there quite early - around 12pm and got our hands stamped as we went in (in case we wanted to leave and come back).
It was lovely to behold - around 102 stands (you can tell I read the guide, right? I only read it when I got home, lol!) and there were so many natural hair and beauty stands this time around.

Meetup | Midlands Natural Hair Meetup 2012
Calling all Midland Naturals! | All Ages Welcome! |
I was invited to go and present on "Transitioning" at this event and I was honoured to be a part of such a wonderful meetup! It was held at the Custard Factory in Birmingham. Myself and Sister E, from the Calabash Hub, decided to catch the train down together. On arrival at Birmingham New Street, imagine our joy at seeing the lovely Rachelle and Charlene, from the Goody Box UK!
Off we wondered, on foot, to the venue. At one point, we couldn't seem to find an entrance but we soldiered on and we were there!

Kitchen Treasures | A workshop that's well worth it!
I was privileged to be a part of this workshop put together by Sis E of the Calabash Hub: giving presentations on my Top 10 product ingredients and Clays for facials and hair washes. Time for me to condition and clay my hair!
Enjoy!
