I am a Nigerian (born-and-raised) young woman, who has lived twenty-odd years without knowing what her natural texture was. I've always wanted longer hair but had no idea how to achieve it. When I seriously started researching black haircare in 2008 on the internet - it's a wonderful thing! - I realised I had to step up my game!
My healthy hair journey began in July 2008 and by December, I quickly reached one growth milestone (APL)! Simple touches like conditioner washing and regularly moisturizing my hair were working wonders on my then-relaxed hair! I joined hair sites like Healthytextures.com, Keepitsimplesista.ning.com and Hairlista.com, and found sisterhood and support for my journey.

The next year, I re-discovered YouTube. By the end of the year (2009) I had decided to transition to natural hair. By this point most of my hair was texlaxed - only slightly relaxed with some texture left in. I believe this has helped make my transition to natural less overwhelming as I can easily blend my new growth with my length. It also means I could try a lot of natural styles with my hair. My last relaxer ever: 27th November 2009.

I thank God for answering my prayers about growing Waist length hair - I prayed this for 2 years straight before I found the first haircare site! With a little TLC and equipping oneself with knowledge about our hair, I believe we can all reach the amazing lengths we only DREAMT were possible.
I really enjoy every minute of my journey and cannot wait until I can unveil my longer, fully natural tresses. I will share my discoveries and pitfalls on this journey. See my hair now in the Styling section. I will be adding a length check album soon! I am also publishing a book to help share these tips in a handy guide to longer hair. Details to follow!
Please feel free to leave a comment in the Guestbook.
Thank you for visiting my page! God bless and Happy hair Journey!
