The Natural Lounge | Naturally Fabulous Meetup So I went to this lovely event on Saturday 8th of October, 2011 and I must say I was impressed!
It was well organised and there were around 300 women present. As soon as we entered, we were given a raffle ticket with a chance of winning one of many hair and bodycare goodies! Then I spotted the tables with vendors and so many lovely hairstyles... I was hooked. Before I could get to the tables downstairs, I was recognised by one of my lovely youtube subscribers! Yay! She was so nice and I appreciate it when I'm approached. It means I'm not just talking to myself (via my camera) - lol! Now for the fun stuff! I met FusionofCulture's Laila-Jean! And there was WhitneyQ of Youtube right next to her. They brought a lovely friend who had braids, with them! After hugging and gushing, we moved off to search for more! The stalls: Represented there were Sheabutter Cottage, Afrocenchix, M.M.M, Blended Beauty, Root2Tip, Jane Carter's solution and Shea Moisture. There was also a product swap table! Before you start hyperventilating, I only found out there were stalls upstairs after a hour there. What was I doing? Thankfully, my hairlista buddies pointed me in the right direction. And up I ran! lol! Unfortunately, I didn't go soon enough for the Shea Moisture products I wanted: sold out! =( However, I did get some Liquid African Black Soap from Sheabutter Cottage (6.50 price for 250mls) and some Blended Beauty Happy Nappy Styles Cream. I have no pictures of the event (bad me) but I will upload video footage if it's good enough quality. Some friends did take some pics so I will see if I can add them here! I really liked this event as there were poetry readings, singers and also inspiring natural stories. Did I mention the giveaways? I didn't win anything but I still enjoyed myself. I even got more ladies recognising me from this site and Youtube - funnily enough, at the product swap table! Don't worry, I was good. I would love to go to more hair meetups like this or the Hairlista one I went to 3 weeks ago. In fact, I am thinking of organising small ones in London either each month or every 2 months. There are so many women who would love to learn about haircare and hair journeys: natural and relaxed. And it seems UK is finally having a natural "re-awakening". Not too soon, I say. So what say you, ladies (and gents)? Hair meetups? Basics of black hair care with product giveaways? Comment below if you're interested.
