Update | Back from Holiday! Sorry I've been away so long but I've been on holiday in Ghana for the past fortnight!
It was good, it was hot but no access to website update page...why????? Oh well, I had a good time. Enjoyed the heat and the Sun! Enjoyed my family's company and the good food - anybody say plantain time? Whilst I was there - from my first day there actually - I met some lovely Ghanian women who were newly natural and feeling a bit at sea. The main issue was styling the hair in the teeny weeny afro, TWA stage. It seemed every "natural hairdresser" only offered locing services. Now, I was taken aback but then had to remember that when I first started my hair journey (12 years after being in the UK), I was still against natural hair (for myself) for the same reason. Fear that natural meant "locing" the hair. I know better now and I was able to allay her fears. It also inspired me to start posting more newly natural tips, interviews and youtube videos. Let's face it, our hair does not become shoulder length overnight! It takes a year or two.....so how to embrace the growth whilst being professional and FLYY? I'll end this update with a simple start: protective styling, protective styling, protective styling! It was how my hair got this far and it is tried and tested by many before (and after) me. I cannot sing enough about the benefits of this so next blog will be about just that! Enjoy and I'll be uploading videos on my youtube soon with pics of what goodies I got (mainly hair stuff, of course).
