I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came to support the book launch on Saturday 22nd of February 2014. I am honoured that you spent some of your time with myself and ManeDivas and the Calabash Hub! It was a lovely afternoon in a relaxed and beautiful venue with some nibbles to enjoy (see pictures below). The hair clinics helped us to speak one-on-one and get a feel for what the current issues with the hair growth journey are. It revealed that hair loss is still a top subject and I will keep it as a priority at my next meet-ups. I believe that only by sharing the information (medical and general) about the causes, we can reach our healthy hair goals. Enough of my gabbing away! Here are some pictures (and the video highlights)! *Lola* Ps: I was featured on Bella Naija. com in the week beforehand here (thanks to Klassy Kinks aka Ijeoma)

Sponsors: The Calabash hub: http://www.thecalabashhub.com/blog/ ManeDivas The Mella Center Hair loss is sadly a fact of life with most black women.
It usually is mainly caused by a lot of our hair care "practices" and the styles we deem necessary to maintain our hair. However, there are many other factors often at play when hair loss persists beyond the use of such styling techniques, Come to the Mane Divas and LolasCurls workshop this Saturday and get answers to your burning questions on this very important topic. Register now for the event (£5) and use your ticket to get money off products from Mane Divas (you can get custom-blended oils too) and 20% of the price my book - £8 weeks to Longer Hair! I can't wait to see you lovely ladies and gents! Book your tickets here as spaces are limited! Another last minute event attending decision!
During the preceding week, I decided I would sign up for the free entry for the above event held on Saturday 19th of October 2013. Imagine my surprise - and utter delight - when on entering the main hall, I spotted not one but two of my favorite vendor stands: The Calabash Hub and Mane Divas. After a quick and fun re-union, I went around the stalls to view their wares and also made some lovely new friends. I was invited by Mane Divas to join the Mobile Chic Boutique, which hosts 5 or so entrepreneurs and helps them market their products in a well-located physical space. I have seen a similar set-up in Camden Town in London so I was totally on board. - As I write now, I am part of the shop and my books are currently on sale there for £10 each! I plan to collaborate with my fellow entrepreneurs to host a few workshops! So far, I feel a hair up-dos and bantu knot tutorials may be the first moves before a braiding or twisting workshop! The dates should be announced in the coming week, by God's grace and I would love for you lovely ladies to come and support us! Keep your Instagram and Twitter accounts on alert for announcements. - Back to 2 Inspire Ladies, it was great to see Root-2-Tip haircare there as well and to witness the budding designers in attendance with the fashion show. I can't wait for the Hairducation Academy being organized by Root-2-Tip! It was a wonderful event and I hope there are many more to come. I also hope I will be able to display there very soon with my future product lines! (God-willing). Below are some more pictures from the event and a picture collage from the Mobile Chic Boutique launch party on Friday 1st of November 2013. See you ladies soon at the workshops! Enjoy! Uzima 2013: Amazing!!! This year did not disappoint!
I was helping out at the Calabash Hub and going to see the other stalls when I realized that I was dancing aand chatting with old friends from last year's Uzima, and new friends from Youtube! It was a great day! Dancing, drumming, food (aaawww I didn't get any patties!) and friends. Met a very knowledgeable Dermatologist, Dr Donna Thompson and I met the Hairfinity UK promoter: Michael. I also got month's supply of the Hairfinity vitamins to use and review for the blog and my Youtube channel! Yay! Met Pamela of Destiny's Black Ribbon in person and it was like finding my long-lost sister! lol! (Hey gurl!) Finally, I stayed for the evening show to watch a few performances before heading home! It was, as always, a lovely eventful (excuse the pun) day! Next year, maybe I might exhibit alongside the Calabash Hub! lol! Did you ladies and gents have the chance to attend this year? Have you been to any other hair events this summer? How were they? Pictures below! On Saturday 7th of July, I went out with about 6 products in tow to see if I could get some worthy swapping done.
Imagine my surprise when I realized there were more than just hair products on the line! This event was hosted by Angel of the Natural Lounge blog and she had the ladies from Afrocenchix and the Author of the book, "Secrets of the Afro comb: 6,000 years of art and culture" - K.N. Chimbiri give us a few words of wisdom before the swapping began in earnest. Did I mention that I won a copy of the book? I went away with a couple of hair goodies as well as some new accessories. All I want to know is, when's the next one, Angel? Enjoy the pictures below! You knew I wouldn't leave you hanging! Here's some video footage of the day and my thoughts on the event this year. Enjoy! This year's event was enjoyable but notably different.
All the other bloggers that went agree with me on it: there were less stalls / vendors than last year. Now whether this was a deliberate thing (to allow for more foot traffic) or just an inevitability that last year's throng of US companies would fall back under EU regulation changes, I don't know. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it! There was much less of a weave-stall presence - they became a side-line to the natural product parade. I attended day 2 (Monday 27th May 2013) of the event. Of course, not all the companies really understood what this meant. Hence, my goodie bags, though plentiful, will need sorting through before giveaways are planned. There was NO bloggers lounge but the lady trying to organize it had a word with myself and fellow bloggers CrystalAfro and Ketishia, explaining the situation and promising something much better in the near future. There should be a blogger's lounge event done before the end of the Summer, so we can look forward to that! Enough chat, time for the pictures! Enjoy! Here are even more pictures! I'll be doing yet another giveaway almost as soon as the current one is over to share my loot from the Bank Holiday "Hair Weekend"!
