Book Reviews | Youtube and more! This year, I have already read 3 hair care books so far! Struggling through a 4th one! Seriously though, the fourth one is really surprisingly "lowering" - I mean, it's kinda boring! Anyhu, below is the first book review! I tried to upload the second on Tuesday 31 Jan but Flipshare was not co-operating (after 2 hrs of uploading!!!!!!) ENJOY! By the way, I'm obviously a hair geek but I'm also a general geek (not a scientist in the strictest sense but my work is very related to science - that's all I'll divulge on that front!). I am currently enjoying the Complete Adventures of Sherlock Holmes on my Kindle, having DEVOURED the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Of course, you know these are either free or 0.99p on Amazon so I snagged them up! The best things in life. Anyhu.....*off topic*

Youtube Times | A week in review! So this past week, I had some time off from work...for my good behaviour, obviously! So I focussed on Youtube -lol! I updated some videos and finally edited and uploaded a few more! I've made a decision though: new videos will be uploaded on Tuesdays and Saturdays from now. Why? This way, you can watch my older videos at leisure but also know when to tune in...he he! Enjoy! (Note these are just a few of the newer vids. Click tab above to see more!) Coconut Milk | Hair Treatments I've been reading about Coconut milk treatments for a while now! Whilst watching a natural hair friend's video on Youtube today (sad, but this is what I do with days off), I noticed she used coconut milk in her Rhassoul Clay treatment. Immediately, I wanted to try it out! She said (it's FusionofCultures' Laila-Jean by the way) she used it almost weekly in her deep conditioning treatments throughout her transition and now her natural hair journey. Sold! So I went out an bought some Tropical Sun Premium Coconut Milk (99p each) - I bought 2. Now I've read up on some recipes. Most involve: 1/4 cup of coconut milk, 2 tbspns of honey, 1-2 tbspns of oil (EVOO, EVCO, almond oil, grapeseed oil, your choice), However, another theme I've noticed is the avocado and coconut mil conditioning treatment. Well, I have 2 little avocados that are ripe and sitting in the fridge. I will probably ony use one but the first Youtube video I liked was by ahseik1118 (aka Keisha). Here is the video and I will try to recreate it now downstairs with the help of the blender (of course, I do have that new food processor I've never used....Naaa!) Enjoy the video in the meantime! S**t Naturals Say | Have you? These are a few videos I discovered tonight and thought I'd share! Enjoy! _Youtube Times | Videos that make me laugh! Here are a few videos I've had fun with this week! CharyJay has lots of videos about natural hair but also has funny videos. Enjoy! 2curls1comb: These ladies also do videos giving advice on transitioning and natural hair. They only have a few videos but they're gems! _Update | 2012 and on we go! Happy New Year!!!! Well, now that's out of the way. This year, I'll be keeping up two Youtube channels and this lovely blog, by God's grace. On one channel, will be a fashion, skin and make-up channel. On the other, my hair care journey continues. In truth, I was going through an old computer to compile pictures to make a video on my hair journey! Be ready for lots of scraggly haired pics! lol! However, as I scrolled through the pics, I also realized my skincare journey is also on these same pics. Acne is a dirty word to me but, alas, it's been a reality since I turned 14! It seemed to calm down a bit around age 21-22 then returned with a vengeance with a change in climate: UK Autumn to Californian Summer! Needless to say, that was when I started wearing make-up! There is only one slight advantage to acne...it makes you look younger than you are....16, say! I was not pleased to be carded for it though. I won't bore you with the details but suffice it to say, very little has worked on my skin. What does work, there is a time limit to how long you can use it. These thoughts were still dancing in my head when I saw this video by Shannon from ThoseGirlsAreWild. See what you think? My new (second) channel is NewAfricanQueen and it should be up-and-running in a couple of weeks, God-willing!
_Youtube Faves | A man who understands natural hair and more! Above is a gentleman who knows his hair lingo and tells it as it is! Below is my buddy, Trish, also of NaturalHairGrwthShow on Youtube. Here she is as BritPopPrincess! Great channel! Loving the feel of the whole channel! _Youtube Times | Videos from this week! This week, I uploaded a few more videos and I stumbled across one I really loved! Here is a selection: (what do you think of my new Youtube channel look? Click tab above to see) Youtube Moments | A few videos of the week! Here are a selection: starting with my latest review of African Liquid Black Soap that I just got whilst in Ghana, a twist style I like the look of and.... ending on a funnier note! Newly Natural | Youtube Inspiration NiaSoPurdy: Her channel got me into doing more twisted styles and bantu-knots whilst transitioning. Here she is at 4 months natural! Ahsiek1118:
This lovely natural from Brooklyn by way of Barbados keeps it real! On her channel you can also get sojme great make up tips! |
