So I've been away from the blog for a while...with good reason! I've been training for a half-marathon! And this morning, I completed it with my friend, Lola aka Africanremy (also has an awesome blog and instagram). Check her out!
So I signed up for this run with only 5 weeks to go before the run. So I got my long distance Nike's on and went for a 15km run! Good! Still got it! Then started training properly!
Training
I ran all over my part of London and a bit further afield. I did my lame version of carbo-loading (pasta and efo or rice and something else). I had some help (from a friend or two taking me out for meals!). I tapered my weekly miles down to 24 the week before the run and did no running the day beforehand to be fully rested.

As the fateful day approached, I still had heart flutters at the thought but used my training manuals to prepare for the morning. I gave a healthy hair talk at a church meeting on the Saturday beforehand (to ease my nerves and help me forget about the run). It was a good day of rest!

I even went to bed by midnight!!! Seriously, that's early for me! Up by 6am and at the venue at 8:30am.

The Event
It was a lovely event! Truly awesome (shucks, I said it)! I ran it in 1 hour 58 mins and change. It was great to get a text confirming my time (I already knew from my Runtastic app though..lol!). There were a lot of hills though: it was a good thing I did some Primrose Hill runs so I had perspective.. aka not as steep! lol!

So business should resume as usual! I have a weekend in Paris coming up, by God's grace, for the Natural Hair Academy 2015. And I'm considering another mini-break! Oh, and another half-marathon: Canada with a friend who resides there and/or the Hackney Half-marathon!

Thanks for reading and enjoy the pictures of my neurotic running addiction and the big day! Recipe of the week to come next!
