On a Budget | Deep Conditioning

This feels like a new series to me.
I thought I would share some tips and tricks to make your money (and products) go further.
So with deep conditioning: all you need is  your hair and a deep conditioner (or mix).

First money-saving tip, use what's in your kitchen!
  1. Oils: Sunflower oil is a natural oil that contains ceramides - fatty molecules, naturally occuring in the hair fiber that can form a seal on the cuticle, preventing protein loss and protecting against wear and tear.
It's cheap and usually sold in 1L sizes in the supermarket. Other good oils are olive oil and coconut oil.
  2. Eggs: you can add an egg to your conditioning mix to help give your hair a protein boost.
  3. Honey: this much loved natural humectant (draws moisture into itself) will make your hair SO SOFT!

Next, you don't need any expensive gadgets to get the deep conditioning done. Just use your own body heat! Here are some options:
  1. Leave your deep conditioning mix on for 30 mins to a hour with a plastic cap on. Go about your chores or relax whilst your hair absorbs the conditioner.
  2. Wrap a warm damp towel around your plastic cap (on your head) and leave for 20 mins only (not with any egg mixes mind!)
  3. Heat up your conditioner for a 10 -30 seconds in the microwave (again NOT the egg mixes). Then apply to your hair.
  4. Leave the conditioning mix on overnight and rinse and co-wash or shampoo out in the morning. Your head heats up the mix (under your plastci cap) and lets the conditioner penetrate better. I would advise wearing a bonnet or scarf over it for extra protection (also put a towel on your pillow, for insurance).

Hope this helped!
