Tangle Teezer Review: Part 1. Getting over myself.
Ok, you know I had to be on this.
If you frequent hair forums and websites, you'll have heard of, or seen reviews of the tangle teezer!
I will be honest, I saw this product in the shops for almost a whole year before I even thought to buy it.
Don't get me wrong, I picked it up and looked at it. Like any self-respecting (wait for it!0 product j....enthusiast, I picked this up in Sally's sometime last year, held it in my hands, and put it back on the shelf. This isn't for my hair type, I thought!
I was so WRONG! Fast forward to December 2010 and I'm on Longhaircareforum (home away from home) and I read the title "TANGLE TEEZER is the truth". Of course I had to read some more. I read and then switched over to Blackhairmedia's forum. On the Natural section of the forum (yay, it's at the top now) I found "the TANGLE TEEZER experience".
I warn you now, the above titled threads are 30 or more pages long!
I read and read (not all in one night, mind, I had a whole weekend for this - lol!) and then, I wanted to see. So, I switched over to youtube and there were a handful of reviews. Literally. Luckily, there was a 4-something typed lady and a transitioner amongst these ranks.
Well, I bought it and I've been using it in between kinky twist installs. There are now so many more videos on Youtube raving about this.
I'm loving it!
Getting over myself: why? My prejudice - and fear - made me pass this by when I could have been luxuriating in the detangling experience for months now! Seriously though: this is something you may want to try or borrow from a BFF or family member (make sure they love you..lol).
I'll be back with parts 2 and 3, highlighting how it felt on wet vs dry hair and what I find it does for me.
So far - as a sneak peek - it does seem to smooth the cuticle (outer layer) of my hair strands and they feel smoother and my twists are shinier and more defined after tangle-teezing - a new word!
Watch this space and be good!
